3 Ways to Cope With Anxiety

Anxiety- a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.

Everyone in the world has their own anxieties but some have it more severe than others. From my personal experience suffering from this mental illness has molded me into the person I am today. How did I overcome this pernicious obstacle, you may ask? Well here are 3 extremely pivotal practices I have done on a daily bases to maintain a positive lifestyle.

  1. Explore different counseling options

There are many different counseling opportunities out there now a days that can really have an impact on the negative thoughts of the subconscious mind. The two that have been the most beneficial to me are cognitive behavioral therapy and Exposure therapy. These practices include tips on correct breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness techniques. By being exposed to these practices effectively helps shape the subconscious mind into reacting positively throughout what may seem to be a fearful situation. 1. Obtain a healthy lifestyle

I believe self-care is a very valuable practice to obtaining a healthy lifestyle. This includes but is not limited to getting proper rest, eating portioned meals, exercising daily, and maintaining healthy relationships with yourself and others. By making all this possible a great idea is working on a schedule with the help of an agenda. This may seem very overwhelming to do but once you are on a set schedule the routine will come naturally.

  1. Practice meditation

Personally, I have found meditation to be extremely helpful with maintaining a calm and collected mind. There are quite a few different types of meditations out there but two that have impacted me significantly include Mindfulness and Guided meditation. Mindfulness meditation focuses on recognizing all senses in a non-judgemental way, which includes truly acknowledging smells, sights, noises, feelings, etc around you. Guided meditation is just as calming but with the assistance of a professional walking you through different steps to reach inner peace. Meditation has played a powerful role in adjusting my subconscious by helping me regain control.
